So I added some honey (3lbs) to a 5 gallon batch and was wondering how accurate the 7 points per pound is. If it is accurate then my math would be this. SG ~1.065. (After honey added) ~1.086. After fermentation ~1.009.
Abv ~10%

Is that correct?

7point.. .might be 8 . I thought it was closer to 40points per gallon, but it could be 35. Honey either way is a bit funny as the moisture varies a bit, and thus the sugar to water ratio varies. These are bee's not an industrial process.

Anyhow at 35 - meaning 7 in a 5 gallon, the 65 would become86. your start of 1.065 should go down to 1.016. After the honey, it should be 1.016.. or maybe 1.015. The honey is 100% fermentable. so your OG should be your prior expected OG, or maybe a point less (alcohol is less dense than water).

I'd say closer to 9% ABV.
