well, compared to the price of the krupps machine the plastic spray bottle looks like a steal for 8 bucks. :drunk:

exsellent fermentation and kegging solution(it seems)
Add a speidel to fill it up
and then 3-4 more so you can keep the pipeline going...

Isnt it just a conical and a keg combined with temp control?

For $4500 usd, this thing has a 1 year warranty. Obviously designed for people who have more money than brains. Designed for people who want to brew beer at home and call themselves homebrewers who don't want to put forth any effort into understanding how the process actually works. Seems like a very overpriced Mr Beer setup. I prefer to error my way to great beer.

Instead of the "professional quality" beer that this advertises, I can make Premium quality beer in my kitchen! Only a fool would purchase this.

Exactly! Its an over-glorified mr. beer with a fridge and kegging system.

Only an over glorified Mr.Beer if you choose to use it like one. There's nothing that says you can't make your own all-grain wort batch, and just use this as your fermentation chamber/kegging system. Albeit a very expensive ferm chamber/kegging system. If it wasn't so damn expensive I think it would be fun to play with, just not using their extracts. I do like the fact that once the wort goes in there it never has to see oxygen again.

Yes there's at least a dozen threads about this. Everytime it hits the news or someone stumbles upon it they start a thread asking if we've seen it.

Here's a few.

Basically the cost of beer in NZ is so high that this is actually a long term cost effective way of dealing with it for folks who want beer. From what I gleaned in the other threads, for the audience that this is aimed for, it's not about the dedicated hobbyist like we are, who are approaching it like an art or a science (or both) with the goal of making great beer.

For most of the folks who pay for that, they want to make beer quick and easily. They don't want to deal with all the stuff that we think adds more fun to the hobby, like diy, or adding hops or standing around a kettle drinking beer with other brewers while mashing in. They basically want to dump in their ingredients, push a button, and have beer, that will be cheaper than what they can get commercially. And may or may not tastes as good.

KAl of the electricbrewery, does a great breakdown about it in terms of NZ brewing culture here.

When you read what he wrote you're less interested in bashing it, when you realize it's not really for us.

So if you bought a Braumeister for $2000 and a Williams Warn Personal Brewery for $4500 you could have the most expensive 5 Gallon 5% ABV home brewery in the world.

And you know what in all reality if I had the cash to blow I would probably do it. If not for the plan fact I could make all of my session beers that keep the pipeline alive quickly and efficiently, then use my normal rig for the big bottled beers.
