Hi all,
A noob here. I have made 1 brewhouse cream ale kit, and it turned out very nice.
Am now trying a Prairie wheat kit, with a few alterations, but maybe some problems also. I soaked the zest of 3 lemons in about 75 mls of vodka, and added them to the primary, in a cheesecloth, 24 hours after pitching the yeast, vodka and all. I removed the cheesecloth 24 hours later, and everything seemed to be going along just fine, lots of foam ocurring for about a week. The problem seems to be OG 1.055, and 2 weeks later the SG is 1.040. I racked into secondary carboy now. Should i wait a little longer for the SG to come down, or have i maybe killed the yeast with the vodka. Not sure what to do now.

Thanks
Barney

Welcome to the forum.

I doubt that little bit of vodka killed the yeast in a 5 gallon batch. You need to wait for the gravity to come down. Rouse the yeast by swirling the carboy for about a minute or 2; bring the carboy up in temperature to about 70 if possible.
