I am from Northwest Indiana and I have been brewing for about 18 months. I started with a Mr. Beer Kit, I new that was not going to satisfy my interest. I moved to extract kits right away producing some pretty good beers. I went to all grain about 3 months and 1/2 dozen batches ago. I have learned most of my technique by studying this site. I will be upgrading my subscription soon

The switch to all grain has been very satisfying. I currently have an all grain Irish Red from last Sunday finishing in a primary, I will probably tranfer it to a secondary tonight.

Have you been to the new Home Brew Supply shop in Crown Point? They have started a local brew club in Crown Point that sounds very interesting.

Are there any local home brew supply shops out your way?

DragonTail, I am diggin' that Hop trellis setup you've got on your gallery, I am thinking of planting a hop garden this spring along with my regular garden. Looks like your PVC frame might be the way to go.

I have been to Kennywood, nice people. He has a decent selection. They talked about that homebrew club on here, unfortunately I have a welding class on Monday evenings.
There is a small selection of homebrew supplies at Anderson's Winery in Chesterton, but that is about it.

+1 to Bob at Kennywood! He's a terrific guy, and even though his shop is fairly small, he always has what I need!

And so far the brew club (now called IBRU -- Illiana Beer Rackers Union) has been enjoyable. We're still fairly new, only 2 meetings under the belt, but it looks really promising. We meet at Crown Brewing in Crown Point, 1st Monday of the month, 7 pm. Bring some of your brew, and taste others! It's a good time!

I actually ditched the PVC.
The PVC broke after a couple of winters.
Now have 4x4's with a pulley setup. :)
There are pics of that in the gallery also.
