Has anyone ever heard of using a small 30 gallon water heater for a herms brew rig?

I thought this could be useful for a mash recirculator, maybe even run a copper coil off the house water heater if the temps were stable enough. Has anyone tried this?

Running a normal residential hot water heater at temps above 150 can be dangerous, most hot water heaters are designed for 125 degree output.
Also cleanin the inside of a water heater would be total pain.
