my beer has been getting a solvent plastic flavor. this happened when i started using a pump. i have been using the braided pvc tubing with the pump. i think this is the cause of it. has anyone had this problem. regardless i am using new tubing asap.

what are you pumping with that pump and tubing? If it's something hot, you will probably want to ditch it and get some food grade silicon tubing. It's crappy expensive ($2-$3 per foot) but won't leave any flavors behind.

I wish I could use PEX, but I need more flexibility and the ability to handle boiling temps. But, if you can keep the tubing in place and the temps down, then yes, it would be fine.
