Hello all and Happy Holidays!
I brewed NS's Kama Citra IPA this weekend. I did a full boil with about 6.5 gallons to allow for evaporation. I cooled and whirlpoooled and let the hop and break material settle before transferring to the primary. I only got barely 4 gallons after leaving the trub on the bottom. My OG was 1.055 (target 1.050). When I topped off to 5 gallons, it took my OG down to 1.045. Not the end of the world...but my question is - When I brew a hoppy beer, should I increase my boil volume to allow for volume loss with all of the trub and/or add some extra malt extract/sugar to make up the decrease OG with top off?
Thanks for any advice!
Mike
