Help with my brew pot

I've recently made the final purchase to go all grain. The only thing i've got to do is drill my 7.5 gal pot. I've got the bargain fitting ball valve to install

The question is how far from the bottom of the pot do i drill?
Will it matter that the pot is Aluminum?
What will be my best bet for and inexpensive kettle screen?
