Looking ahead to next brew day and was wanting to brew a nice malty amber that would showcase NZ hops. was looking for input.:mug:
I'm not sure about the melanoiden malt, I was thinking about maybe some biscuit, victory malt or special B instead.

i like it. melanoiden may not be necessary since you have the munich which is high in melanoiden. more of a preference.

you could put more crystal in. try 1.5# of what you have along with like a half pound of 120.

I've made several ambers with similar grain bills, although I used victory, in place of the melanoiden, but I like a bicuity note in my beer. I agree that with the Munich in there the melanoiden malt becomes a bit redundant. Considering all the flavors you'll have going on in there already, I think you could skip the Vic / mela altogether and be just fine.

i'd replace the munich with more base malt. if you're trying to showcase hops, why an amber?

Thank you for all of your input I think I will brew as is with out the melanoidin. I also think I will move the 60 min. Addition of galaxy to 30 min. I've heard they can be a bit much at the 60 mark. I am brewing an amber because I want the malt to come through as well as the hops. I tend to think that ambers are a little more balanced than like an ipa.
