I had been going to brew an Imperial Baltic Porter on Friday 15Jan so on Thursday I mixed the grain (just over 11kg in all), tasted the supernatent over the Diamond yeast I'd save and decided it was good to go.

Fortunately I wasn't able to brew but I did try the beer I harvested the yeast from and I don't like it, it is a kit I made up as a giant starter.

I don't know if it's just a nasty kit or the yeast, one I've never used before, or if it's contaminated as it's in a Corny I'll leave it for a few months maybe it will come good.

I have lager yeast to hand but non that are tolerant enough to ferment out the Imperial porter I had planned however I can brew the 'normal' strength porter but I will have a lot of grain left over.

Left over grain mixed together.

Crystal 60.............227g
Special B...............227g
Carafa Special 2.....170g
Chocolate..............113g
Munich..................5440g
Pilsner...................3170g

I can add grain and use any hops I can buy.

Other than more porter what else could I brew with this as a base?

If you can recommend any additions and hop schedule s I'd appreciate it.

Thanks All. Aamcle
