It took me ~6mo to finally get a brew day for a partial mash kit. I'm halfway through the process and discovered mold on top of the 6# Pilsen Light LME! And of course, my LHBS is closed on Sunday.

I have nothing on hand other than crystalized 1# packages of each Traditional Dark and Pale Ale DME's that I was about to throw in the trash.

How can I salvage the wort that I have to restart the process in a few days when I can get more LME?

I have only mashed....was about to add LME's then get to boiling. I've read somewhere I might should consider pasteurizing first?

I think I have a hard no to mold....not sure I would trust that but thank you for the link! I pasteurized it, am cooling it down as fast as I can and will refrigerate at 40F in my fermenter until I can take this up again.

Scrape it off and discard it. Then add the rest to your boiling kettle which will kill any form of life. Disclaimer, I’m not an expert in molds and fungus, just an easy going lazy, frugal brewer.
