Hi

I have a slightly off topic question....

I'm visiting the bay area (San jose) in about a month. Can people recommend

1. Some good homebrew stores in the area?
2. Anywhere I can buy build your own 6 packs?

Thanks for any help and appologies again for the off topic question

Cheers!

While I'm sure there are others, definitely consider More Beer, I think in los altos.

Web search pulled up several others but not sure where you are.

I second the MoreBeer location in Los Altos. Whole Foods market allows you to build your own 6-pack, there's one in San Jose https://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/stores/blossomhill

There's bevmo, total wine with good selections. Sometimes Cost plus world market has good selections, but they vary by location.

Thanks to all who replied, I'll be heading over from the UK next week. I'll be sure to head out to More Beer, I like to bring back some hops and brew myself a clone of something I've tried while I've been visiting (last time I brewed a clone of Odell's cut throat porter, very nice).
I'll also take a look at some of the suggestions for build your own six packs. I go for the build your own six pack because I can only bring back about 15-20 bottles with me, so I get more selection that way. I'll be in downtown San Jose near Adobe, so if anyone has any other suggestions that'd be great! Thanks again :)

There is a homebrew store called Fermentation solutions in Campbell which would be close by but I've never been there myself. The Los Altos MoreBeer site is my LHBS and is only 17 miles from downtown San Jose, I'd go there if I were you.
If you make it up to the city, City Beer is a pretty awesome bottle store with a tap room.

I live near Fermentation Solutions. It's ok if you need something last minute and they have it on hand. It is small, not a great selection, and their knowledge can be lacking (recommending 1/4" beer line for a kegerator). MoreBeer is definitely the best LHBS I've been to around here.

Thanks to all that replied to my post.

If ever anyone follows in my footsteps...

Regarding a LHS, morebeer is the way forward.

If you are looking for singles to take home with you, I tried various places BevMo, WholeFoods, Cost Plus World Market, Safeway, Trader Joes, Iso Beers, Market Beer, Kellys Liquor. None really had a singles collection (including BevMo, apparently they stopped it last year).

However by far and away the best place to go is Total Wine, they have hundreds of singles at great prices.

I managed to try:

Anchor - Mango Wheat

Anchor - Coffee Porter
Anchor - Meyer
Ballast Point - Grunion
