Well I finally walked the walk after months of talking the talk. I purchased all of my home brewing equipment including a partial mash setup from a guy (who steered me to this site) in Kalamazoo, Michigan a couple weeks back. Already have my first batch in secondary fermentation and am planning on brewing batch two this weekend. Can't wait!! Thanks for all the info and words of encouragement! :mug:

Welcome to the forum, I'm new here myself. If that first batch doesn't turn out as good as you'd hoped, immediately drink 5-6 more and it'll taste great! :) Actually, it's hard to brew a bad beer IME!

Welcome aboard. Always good to see another Michigan brewer. I actually have a brother that lives down there in kalamazoo been wanting to go visit and maybe check out bells brewery

It's great to see new folks get into brewing. You can keep it simple and make great beer with kits or get into the dirt and make great beer with the raw materials. Either way, it's an awesome feeling to create something you enjoy and better yet, feel good to share with others.

Welcome to the mix. Feel free to PM me with any questions. I may have been there (1 or 20 times). ;O)

Ken

Thanks for all the welcomes:D I'm super excited to be finally home brewing. Everything sort of happened quite fast. I wasn't even a regular craft beer drinker until this past April when I did a western Michigan brewery tour with a bunch of guys from work and I've been hooked ever since! Then three beer festivals this summer and now home brewing. Can't wait to see what next year brings!

My recently retired buddy has been brewing for years and years so I decided to jump in for some winter fun. I like IPA, Reds and some dark brews. I'm fairly lazy so will stick to syrup w/small amounts of grain in 1 Liter bottles. I've ordered the Irish Red extract kit from NB, we currently have a batch of 3 Hearted almost ready for bottling.
