I am a newly started hops farmer in California. I’m growing cascade, chinook, centennial, nugget, magnum, zeus, Brewers Gold and Pride of Ringwood.
This is my first year and have bines growing to the top of the trellis on the chinook strain but most of my other strains are not shooting up as well. My question is will bushing plants still cement in the ground for my further years production or will they not do as well?

I planted mine late the first year, they didn't do a whole lot, but they came back the second year. When did yours go in the ground? I am sure they will be fine.

Where in CA?

I’m out here in San Diego in the mountains. I’m hoping that it will at least come back for years moving forward

The profile pic shows what 50 of my bines look like... I will take a picture and post what the bushes look like

Hoping these post

I would have thought they would have got at least 6-8ft tall, even letting them run wild the first year, cascade is typically more bushy but vigorous nonetheless.

Yeah I had a major rodent issue so I had to cage the hops but 48% came back and this was the end result I’m hoping as it bushes out that the photosynthesis from the leaves create a strong root system and they come back strong
