Hi

I'm planning to do a 10 gallon batch of a grain bill of

10lb Pils
8lb White Wheat Malt
2lb Flaked Wheat
1lb Oats

What I want to do is split this in 1/2 after the boil and pitch 1/2 with wlp300 and 1/2 with wlp400

My problem is the spice additions. I was thinking of taking some wort and boiling the spices separate for 15 min and then adding that liquid back to the wlp400 fermenter. Anyone see any issue with this?

no need to boil it with wort. you can crush your coriander and/or chamomile flowers and steep them in boiling (i do 160-170 instead preferably so there's no risk of nasty tannins coming out of plant material) water like a tea. then add it directly into boil or, if you're not looking to boil the spices, directly into fermenter.

imo just making the spices into a water-based tea will do the trick.
