it's not that i don't have a stir plate, it's just that i haven't got around to wiring a new power cord, so at this point it's mostly decorative. so i just hooked up the old airstone and sterile filter for a 2.5 L starter with ESB 1968 in a 5 L jug. even whacked in a couple drops of foam-stop. when i went to bed it was behaving really well. when i awoke exactly 24h after pitching i found this. that's a bit less than 2.5 L left in the jug (about 2.2 less, for any pedants out there). fortunately it was contained and before gf was even out of the shower it was cleaned up and water boiled for a new starter! within seconds of finishing the doorbell rang, it was the postman with my witbier yeast, i think it was all a sign, the weather is nice, put the stout on hold and make something summery! and laugh at my failure
