in a brew that is?

I'm a little curious. I think it could be interesting in a stout or porter.
 
It has a licoricey flavor, so I think it could go well in a porter or stout. I just added a few grams of anise (which has a similar flavor) to a dark saison with figs and buckwheat honey. Licorice root also did good things for a big porter I brewed a few years back. Give it a shot, but go easy on the amount, you can always add more later.
