Gearing up to build my keezer next week. I'm psyched! :rockin:

Trying to decide what wood to use for the collar. Some here have said that cedar is preferable for the inner collar because of its rot-resistance. Others say to use whatever is cheapest. Honestly, I can't remember any talk about wood rot that was not speculation. That is, nobody I've seen has claimed to have actually lost a collar from rot.

What's the current consensus? Has anyone actually experienced rotting on the inner collar, or will I be fine with whitewood (at least for the lifespan of an Idyllis chest freezer)?

I think your compressor will rot before the collar does...:)
I just used 2X4's on the inside and white birch on the outside.
