I would like to harvest yeast for the first time and I'm not sure what is the best way to do this...

Should I harvest the yeast from the primary after I transferred to secondary or wait until I bottle ans harvest the yeast from the secondary?

Should I even transfer to a secondary?

Thanks for the help!

Primary. There will be little to no yeast in the secondary...That's the point of a secondary..And if your not adding something like fruit skip the secondary all together

The very few times I have done a secondary, very little yeast was present when done. Harvest from primary, especially if you are adding anything to the secondary.

Also, just a helpful tip.Target,if you have one near you, has a 9 pack of mason jars for $10 that work perfect. And DONT crank the lid down.Youll never get it open they build pressure.Just lightly snug the lid and stick in the fridge.
