Hard Apple Cider Newbie

First time attempting the Hard Apple Cider. Quick question in regards to the Gravity after fermentation.

I went to transfer my batch from one carboy to another so that I could kill the yeast in preps of back sweeten. After the transfer I took a gravity reading and it read 0%

Is my batch now bad that is shows 0% alcohol?

The % on the hydrometer shows "potential alcohol" for Original Gravity readings (pre-fermentation). Ignore this number. You need to be reading the Specific Gravity column before and after fermentation (ex. original gravity 1.060, final gravity 1.005) to determine alcohol content.
