I wanted to have a hands free water filter that was portable and easy to use. This is what I came up with. I am sure there are others that have something very similar:

As you can see the new Pur filter fits like a charm! It is plenty stable and wedges into place nicely. I am sure I could have got a more expensive filter and mounted it to my brew cart but it would have been non-portable.

The hose to sink adapter fits perfectly inside the rubber washer and is actually held in place by the nut as seen here (sorry for the slightly blurry pic.):

Granted I am sure I really good tug would pull it out but now I can filter water or not off 1 line and it is still hands free!

Parts list:

RV hose - $15 (not included in cost as It would be required anyway)
1" chrome plated P trap - $4
Pur filter - $16
adapter for hose to sink - $2

great idea. ive got a faucet filter and i hate having to transfer the water in pots to my kettle.
