Growing Hops Upside Down

I'm not so sure about that. I had some hops last year and the ones closer to the top of the plant (15-20') were noticeably larger than the ones on the bottom, so it seems like the higher they are the better they do.
 
Your first problem would be that the pot is too small. A healthy root ball on a hop plant is several feet in diameter. Your second problem would be that the hops would try to grow up and end up tangled in a massive ball and probably not produce many flowers.

I'm pretty sure a small container like that will just piss off the hops. They'll tolerate it for about two weeks, then the hulk rage will start. They'll burst through the sides and top, screaming for your blood and ripping up the container to shreds except the small part around the crotch area.
