Hello fellow brewers, thank you for such an amazing resource to come to when I am in that panicked phase!! Well... at least this is the second place I come to, the first is the fridge for a beer!

My friend and I are first time brewers who got into this for all of the fame and fortune. Oh wait, no, it was for the beer! We are currently hailing from Los Angeles, CA but are looking to move our operations to the east coast out of our apartments into a basement where we can have some proper space.

We got our starter kit from the home wine beer and cheese making shop in Woodland Hills, CA (The Home Wine, Beer, and Cheesemaking Shop) (I hope it is ok to plug them, they are a great little shop!). The have put together the beginner brew kit that I don't believe is your traditional starter kit, seems like some top notch stuff.

We're in the middle of our "first brew", it is from a starter package of ingredients called "london pride", it is a london style ale. We are close to bottling it (in the next couple of days) and couldn't be happier with how things are going. The best advice we got from the guy at the store was, "Drink beer while you make beer and everything will probably turn out alright."

Anyway, thanks for this web site and I look forward to coming to you all with questions and we'll be sure to let you know how it comes out!

Welcome to HBT! I am also from Southern California, but was dragged out to KY by the Army. I would say this site is the most valuable piece of kit I have used in my home brewing adventures. There are so many awesome brewers on here that I have realized that there isn't a scenario or question that hasnt been covered. Happy brewing! Be sure to check out https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f22/ed-worts-apfelwein-day-january-24-2009-a-92433/, although the deadline has passed I believe you will find the recipe ridiculously easy and another great way to build your pipeline! I just wished someone would have told me about it sooner!
