I am going to Vegas tomorrow for 5 days of vacation. My wife wanted me to go, so that her nephew could go to Vegas for some Fun (that way we pay for the trip). She cant go since she just started a new job. So, I am taking my 2 girls to the grandparents tonight and then heading to Vegas in the AM without SWMBO.

Does anyone have a suggestion of a bar or restaurant in Vegas that has a great selection of beers? Any local beers that I must try?

I look forward to traveling out West, since there are many small breweries ehose beers do not come into Florida.

Try 32 Degrees at the M Hotel. All of the beers are served at 32 degrees and the prices are right. For example, DFH Raison is $5 a pint. Elsewhere it's $8+

I've been to Sin City Brewing Co. I liked their stout, been a while and don't remember much else. They have a mini bar in the Miracle Mile Shops, so it's a central location and easy to try their beer. They did have a special when I was there where you got a maskrug full of beer for like $6 and you keep the glass.

I wasn't overly impressed with Sin City Brewing, but I did like the beers at Ellis Island. The most impressive part...$1.99 draughts of their in-house beers. Their stout was really good (I'd suggest you ask them to NOT serve it in a frosted glass, as thats how all of their beers come). Enjoy, and good luck!

I like the Sin City hefeweizen. Very good. You can find a Sin City stand in the miracle mile, the Flamingo and I believe there is still one in the Monte Carlo. You can also find some of their beers around different bars in town.

Burger Bar in between the Luxor and Mandalay Bay has awesome food and a very decent beer selection. Save room for a one gallon guitar full of alcoholic slushy from the rockstar stand. lol

Just came back from Vegas sunday. Went to Ellis Island (hit n Miss, its a dirty worn out place too) the IPA tasted like a Cream Ale with a little extra hops?? The Blonde was pretty good, nothing special. The Pub at Monte Carlo was good, nice selection of taps and very good selection of bottles. Gordon Biersch was by far the best, plus the food is great. Had a great Dunkle and fantastic Salmon fillet.

Check out the Yard House in Town Square on south Las Vegas Blvd (just past the airport away headed away from the strip. They have something like 100 beers on tap and good food too. It's a bit buried in the shopping center but well worth a visit.

Do NOT go to Yard House. They have 100 taps but most of it is BMC and the people working there don't care about beer at all.

Go to Burger Bar in Mandalay Bay. Not 100 taps (more like 24 I think) but the ones they have are all great and carefully selected. You can order tasting menus, and the bartenders actually know about and love the beer they serve. And the food is pretty good. If you're willing to spend lots of money on a milkshake, try one there...they are REALLY good.

I wouldn't travel halfway across the country to go to GB -- since I have one in town -- but I do enjoy their schwartzbier and several of the seasonals. Plus the lobster mac and cheese is awesome.

Burger bar an Mandalay is a must for me now. I ate there twice on a 3 day vacation just to oggle the beer menu. Stellar selection (although pricey).

Hofbrauhaus is also a good one. Very fun atmosphere and hot girls in dirndls. Although really there's only three beers to choose from I think.

Last time I went there I don't really remember leaving.

Vegas has some great breweries. I have been to all of them. Skip Gordon Biersch and Hofbrauhaus unless you really like German beers.

Local Microbrews:

Ellis Island is hands down my favorite, mostly due to price! The IPA sucks, its like a half hopped pale ale. The amber is decent, and the hefe is pretty good too. The reason to go is the price. It is a huge glass for $2. You won't find **** on the strip for that price.

Sin City, the easiest to get too as it has multiple locations on the strip. I know the owner, awesome guy. Amber is my favorite beer he has. My wife loves the Hefe (she loves german hefs, I do not). He was supposed to put an IPA on tap in Nov/Dec last year, but haven't had it yet.

If you can get off strip, get to Tenaya Creek Brewrey and Big Dog Brewing! Both fantastic fun places. If you can't get off strip, the beer bar in the Monte Carlo has Tenaya Creek. I only drink IPA's so I had the Tenaya Creek Hop Ride. Great beer.

Big Dogs is an awesome local brewpub!!!! I had two IPA's while there and both were awesome!!!!

Hope this helps.

I stayed at the Flamingo last February, and spent many a night down at the Sin City bar. Last year they had a great seasonal IPA, done with centennial and Willamette hops. It was totally different than the typical citrus bomb. A lot of the stuff seemed undercarb'd, but it is being piped quite a distance to get to the bar.

If your staying on the strip the only place is to go to the "monti carlo" their pub has 200 beers available. 75 taps the rest in bottle! The beers are from all over the world!

i live in vegas and trust me dude sin city brewing co is not worth checking out.

sahara hotel - theres a little dinky ass bar right by the nascar cafe that tries to get some decent stuff on tap at good prices.

Big Dogs- this joint is my hangout. make sure you go to the one on Rancho and Craig. thats where they brew the beer. they always have about 6 regulars plus about 2 specialties and a few good guest taps from local west coast breweries like lagunitas or ballast point or pizza port. there house beers are fantastic solid b+ to a beers.

Chicagos - sahara and ft apache. this is another local brew pub. pretty damn good beers and knowledgable bar staff. great food and very nice atmosphere. they usually have a good range of specialty beers they do along with their normal house brews.

777 brewpub - freemont street. these guys arent to bad. nothing to write home about but cheap local brews all around the 5 - 6.5% this place does get pretty crowded oddly enough. also sometimes the casino bars sell 777 beers for 1.50. sometimes warm but c'mon its a buck and a half!

tenaya creek - tenaya and cheyenne. these guys didnt serve food last time i checked but they got some great beers worth checking out. if you cant make it to the brewery you can usually find bombers of their calico brown ale or the hop ride IPA around town at local liquor stores. Like Lee's Liquor. If you get lucky you might find their monsoon DIPA that is actually really good. they retail for about $3. cheap enough to take a few home.

aces and ales - nellis blvd behind sams town.- these dudes always have a great rotating selection of beers. about 20 taps or so that are changing litterally everyday. usually nothing local. they can also get very pricey so save money for the taxi. also not the most knowledgable bar staff. so sometimes its a guessing game as to what style of beer it is. they also have small goblets. pizza sucks as well. other stuff is good though.

freaking frog - maryland across from UNLV. about 12 taps but this place is seriously worth checking out just for their walk in bottle cellar alone. i felt like a kid at toys r us again. just ask the bartender to see it and their usually excited to show it off.

Ellis island - maybe just me but these are the worst beers i think i have honestly ever had. maybe it was a bad keg but i would gladly slam down a natty light over their stuff.

yard house- please if you respect yourself as a beer lover do not go here. great food but unbelievably pompous staff and literally the mecca for *****ebags.

i forgot... I highly reccomend you get off strip for a taste of local brews like big dogs or chicagos but if you absolutely can not get off the strip Pour 24 at NYNY really tries hard to put together a decent selection. keep in mind they have the strong arm of bud controlling some of the taps but they do have DFH 60min, rougue shakespeare, abita and some others. this is a great place for people watching but please dont feed the *****ers. lol

I forgot about 777! They had a Chocolate IPA on tap last time I was there, was different for sure! Worth tasting!
