Hello everyone,

I bought this grain mill second hand and for some reason it keeps dropping grain in the corners of the rollers. Maybe just one side. Screws are tight. It mills generally alright but I noticed grains slipping through. Particularly a wheat. How would I fix this? Pictures for more detail. Thank you for any help!

Yeah the gaps are weird, I can't understand why they did that.
Apparently they're all like that.

I have that exact (or similar) mill will the same triangular gaps, sans the slipping through problem. The rollers are positioned in such a way that it should deter grains from going opposite the rotation. Are you milling too fast/slow? If you're hand cranking, are you maybe sending it backwards at times? Possibly stopping before the grain has been sent through?

for clarity, I use a drill on high torque, low speed.

I like the idea of the mill being run backwards as a cause for this problem good point @FloppyKnockers

Perhaps a new piece of metal or even plastic or wood could be cut and held by the nut that is visible in the bottom of the hopper?

I have three mills with their oem base hoppers. They all have the same design - with triangular cuts in the corners - and I've never had any problems with them dripping uncrushed kernels - whether barley, wheat or oats - as long as I don't run the rollers backwards...

I think y'all are chasing ghosts...

Cheers!

I need to look at mine. Backwards is definitely a no-go but I haven't studied that cut that closely.
It's never been an issue, unless I reverse it.

My Barley Crusher looks the same as what I assume is yours.
I'm leaning towards a slight backwards rotation when you pause or stop.
It only takes a 1-quarter turn to drop some un-milled grain.
And BTW, a few un-milled isn't going to make a perceivable difference in a batch.

I've got the Cereal Killer. Looks the same. I get a little bit (Wouldn't fill a shot glass) when i fill the hopper. None after I start milling. Are you getting it continuously?
Not really a "fix", but double milling would help.

I believe this is a China knock off of the keg land grain mill.

I was loosing grains the entire milling process. I couldn't imagine hand cranking it. High torque low speed on electric drill. Never going backwards.

Not sure how quickly it was slipping by but more then enough to stop and start a post. It seemed more then a two+ shots of grain out of 3.5 lbs of white wheat. It seemed unnecessary.

Taped all the corners and ran some wheat through it and it seemed to have fixed the issue.

Thanks for help everyone! Much appreciated.
