I have been exclusively using Marris Otter as my base malt for a while, and to say I like it is an understatement. I was looking at other premium base malt options. Golden Promise comes to mind. I have also read that vienna can be used as a base malt.

Does anybody have an experience with Golden Promise? I know that Furrious IPA uses it for it's base, so it can't be all bad!

I've used GP for a few of my pale ales and IPAs. I like the malt flavor profile it contributes, especially with a very hop prominent brew. It helps blend the balance of malt and hop character. I love using it as a base malt.

GP is definitely different from MO. It is hard to really describe. I find GP gives a richer/maltier taste. If you taste them raw, GP reminds me of grape nuts cereal and MO tastes bready to me
