So my wife had a cherry wheat the other day and asked me to make her one. I didn't want to put too much money or effort into it (don't tell her that) so I found the simplest hefe recipe I could find:
6 lbs wheat LME
1 lb crystal 10
1 oz hallertau
wb-06
My plan is to brew this and ferment in primary as usual. When it comes to racking to secondary, I'm going to split the batch into 2 2.5 gallon batches. With one batch I'm going to add 36(ish) oz's of canned cherry puree (I don't want to spend the money for fresh cherries). With the other batch, I'm going to do a variation of the bananas foster ale that I found on another thread.
My questions:
Will the banana flavor of the hefe make the cherry half taste like hell? (my lbhs said it probably wouldn't be very good, but he has lied to me before)
Does anyone have any general tips or concerns for this "experiment"?
