Hi Guys,

Question regarding the usage of frozen fruits.

After the fruit is thawed should I just toss it to the (second) fermenter and then add the beer after primary, or should i mash it before?

Second question: is it already sanitized?

Thanks

It's not already sanitized. Some folks here simmer it for a short time. Heating it to 162F would pasteurize it in a very short time. But frozen fruit is good for our needs,as the freezing process ruptures the cell walls, giving more juice when thawed.

Thanks for your reply,

Would they be sanitized after the quick simmer?

Yeah, the 162F temp would be where pasteurization takes place. They say it takes seconds to accomplish, but a couple minutes is ok.
