Freezing bottles????

This has me curious...I read a reply in the recipe database about freezing bottles prior to bottling. Can't find any other info or threads on this topic. What, if any, is the benefit of freezing bottles?

i only know about doing this if you are bottling from the keg.

the colder the bottles are the less the beer will foam up when the beer comes, carbed, from the keg.


maybe one wiser than me can say for sure if you ever need to freeze bottles if not bottling from keg

The only thing I've ever heard of freezing bottles is for bottling straight from the keg to keep the foam down.
