For all you newbs, (myself included) someone here passed this on a while back. It's a link for a free brewing book. It will answer alot of your 1st batch questions as well as give you info on all grain, bottles, etc. Just thought I would pass it along.http://www.howtobrew.com/

Yeah, thanks for the link. I'm always tempted to pick up that book when I'm at my local HBS. I guess now I don't have to. :)
I own a couple of brewing books--one in particular helps me out all the time--
"The Homebrewers Companion" by Charlie Papazian. He goes WAY over my head with almost everything, but its got some great info.

Looking into doing a research paper for school on how exactly the straches from the grain turn into sugers and then get turned into alchohol. Pretty much a deep wiew into the scienctific explation of brewing. Is there a good book out there for this?

If I'm not mistaken, morebeer.com has a book on the science of brewing. At least, their catalog does.
