I refuse to be a noob. LOL
My name is Johnny and I am located in New Haven, IN. I work for the government so my drinking habit is a necessity. I have been interested in brewing my own ever since my supervisor hyper hopped and overcabonated his first batch in 1999 and gave me the whole thing. Since then, I have been spending too much time and money investigating the micro-brews in every town I have hit. A shout-out to the Tun Tavern in NJ, and to Olga
, best bartender they have. Their Devil Dog Pale and American IPA are nice.
Anyway, my wife bought me the "Easy Bake Oven" version of a brew kit for x-mas (aka Mr. Beer), and after one batch I went and bought a Brewers Best Beginners kit. I currently have West Coast Pale bottle conditioning, Mr. Beer Lager fermenting, and an American Black Ale in my Brewers Best.
I made both Mr. Beer recipes by the kit so I can change to DME and Safale yeast seperately in my next 4 batches to taste the difference. The Brewers Best is going to get an oatmeal stout next and I'll probably run with kits for the next 8 or 9 five gallon batches while continually getting more equipment to do full grain.
Who knew that making beer could be as fun as drinking it?
My favorite bar in the area is the Trion Tavern in New Haven. Over thirty beers on tap with more in bottles and the owner, Greg Jacquay, knows his brews. If you're ever in the area send me a pm. I may not have any ready to drink for a while but the Trion always has a stool open. :rockin:
My three favorite micro-brews come from Stone, Three-Floyds and Left Hand. As the limeys say, Cheers!
