So i was making my 2nd 5gal batch (an Amber)... cooled the wort, poured into 6.5 gal glass carboy.... i couldn't find the screen insert that fits inside the funnel... so alot of trube & hops got mixed in.... this was firday evening & still Tuesday night its opaque... i have a bright LED lap & cant see the light through the jar... however i have a Pale Ale & it looks gorgeous under the light (he's going on his 3rd week....fermenting, 1st week in the secondary)...

Is my amber screwed? There's still fermentation activity (based solely upon airlock activity).... there is a marbled yeast/trube cake at the bottom.... if it keeps sitting in the primary will it clear up? BTW, the OG of the amber was something pornographic like 1.072 (if i recall correctly)... will the other crap in solution contribute to a higher OG?

A lot of brewers don't strain on purpose. They like the added flavor that trub gives off. Your beer will clear up eventually. It will be drinkable. You might even decide not to strain the next one! RDWHAHB! :)

I strained my first one and didn't with the second and third. Both of those turned out better than the first and have more flavor.

If you do any late hops you are just going to strain them out. Don't worry about all the sediment. It will all gather in the trub at the bottom.
