Just brewed a full boil 5 gal extract batch in a new aluminum brew pot that I didn't oxidize.

Watch should I watch out for...the batch looks and smells fine:confused:

LMAO:D

Seriously...I know its not the smartest thing I've done...but this beer looks and smells fine. No freaky colors or anything, and I did sanitize it with star san for a good half hour. If any aluminum got in my beer I sure didn't see it

Nothing. You should be fine. The real issue with non oxidized aluminum is if you mash in it. The ph of a mash can actually leech out flavor. As long as you brought the brew to a boil prior to adding the extract you would not have hit that issue, and the heating and boiling water would have deposited a small layer of oxidation protecting your beer from any favors. Besides its just a slight metallic tang. Never hurt anyone.

Not too sure about flavors or toxicity, but I do know it will make the water darker and even a blackish color.

The first time we boiled water in our aluminum pot and added it to the fermentor (top off water added before the wort) it had a shiny haze on top, like gasoline spilled in a lake. Needless to say we dumped the water out and did a re-boil.

The first brew I did in my aluminum pot I didn't oxidize before since I hadn't done enough research on here first. I only did a partial boil on that extract kit, but I did not notice any off or metallic flavors from that batch and neither did anyone else. I think you will be just fine. Did you taste the wort when you took your OG sample?

I forgot to do the oxidize thing before my first brew in my aluminum kettle (I intended to and totally spaced it off since I was thinking of other stuff at the time of my first brew). Anyway, the beer turned out fine. Don't worry.

Or, more appropriately, RDWHAHB. Did I do that right?

Trollolol.

Im pretty sure ive read that the passive oxide layer is just there to protect your Pot, not your beer

Wtf mate.... Troll?

Yea chill bra. and im serious about the rest of my post. dont worry about the brew and do a search on an Al-oxide for your pot, you can do a full water boil or bake it
