I'm brewing a Belgian wit this morning that has a pound of flaked oats in it. Well I forgot to put the oats in the mash. I remembered with about 5 minutes left, so I tossed them into the cooler. I was going to run the mash for another 20 minutes to make up for it. Anyone know how or if this will effect the beer.

Honestly, it'll probably still be a great brew. I think the oats are for body, and mouth feel which honestly should be fine if you keep it unfiltered.

I may be incorrect though on how the oats influence the brew, but someone will chime in otherwise.

In the end RDWHAHB.

I think oats still contribute some sugars but mostly mouth feel. So i agree with the above it will probably still turn out.
