Hi Guys,
Did a search but couldn't find any specific info, so...

Has anyone successfully mounted a 'Universal Square Flange' heating element to the side of a keg so as to make a boiler?

I'm wondering about any problems due to the keg side being curved and the mounting flange looks pretty large... did the side of the keg have to be formed/flattened to help sealing or will just gently and evenly tightening the flange bolts work?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Cheers,
Jag

My advice would be to take it back an get a round threaded heating element. In order to mount the one you have pictured you would have to punch one hole for the element and then either weld 4 studs or punch 4 more holes for mounting bolts.

I agree with stl completely. No reason to reinvent the wheel here. The 1" npt elements work great for so many on this site.
