Hi,
I'm taking a stab at formulating my own recipe, and I wanted to have the experienced take a glance before I actually attempt it this week.

Please offer any insight.

I'm going for an India pale ale
I'm most likely going to use safale05.
I'm aiming for a 1.065 OG with a 1.016 FG

Boil 3 gal of water
add 2.5 gal of water in the fermenter

Steep Grain:
.50 lb. Crystal 20L
.50 lb. Vienna

Boil: 60 minutes
6.6 lb. Xtra-Light malt extract
.50 lb of Dextrose
1 tsp Irish moss

Hops:
2 oz. Northern Brewer ( 60 min.)
1.50 oz. Cascade (10 min.)
1.50 oz. Cascade (5 min.)

Methinks you like Northern Brewer hops, good sir. Thy recipe smacks of of a fine ale,to be sure! And thy choice of yeast be note worthy as well.:D

I think this is leaning towards an ipa.

I don't have a secondary, so I was planning on leaving it in the primary for 3-4 weeks and then bottling.

Can I dry hop the whole time? Or just the 1st two weeks?

You can dry hop in primary, but wait till the brew reaches FG & clears a little. The hop oils would be dragged out of suspension by the settling yeast they'd cling to.
