Just finished setting up my kegerator and figuring out how to keg- replaced the gas and beer lines, etc. Super excited to really start kegging beer and enjoying it on the tap!

I pretty much followed Clawhammers Supply’s Hammer Party recipe, but they mentioned not enough hops post boil so I concocted my own little recipe. Came out amazing and I’m brewing another 5 gal batch after work today!

Grain Bill
  • 10.5 lbs Pale Malt
  • 13 oz Flaked Rye
  • 9 oz Chocolate Wheat
  • 9 oz Carafa III
  • 8 oz Crystal 60
  • 8 oz Crystal 120
Hop Schedule
  • 60 min: 8.5g BRU-1
  • 45 min: 14g Centennial
  • 30 min: 14g Centennial
  • 15 min: 14g Cascade & WHIRLFLOC TABLET
  • 5 min: 14g Cascade
  • Flameout @ 180°F:
    • 2oz BRU-1
    • 1oz Centennial
    • 1oz Cascade

Good for you, brother.
Kegging was/is one of the best things that I ever did to make things easier. If I hadn't of started kegging, I would have quit brewing years ago.. I hated bottling but, I really hated waiting for it to carbonate naturally. Kegging makes a big difference!

Hey pep that IPA looks great. My first to be kegged beer is in its first week of fermentation and is also a black IPA. I am not up to AG yet so this was still a extract recipe. How did the IPA taste?

It tasted amazing! Not too bitter and not too hoppy, really just a nice in between and my girlfriend who pretty much only drinks stouts and porters loves it- I think that’s a good sign! I brewed another batch of the same recipe, but this time it’s fermenting in my 7 GAL fermonster so I can do a closed system transfer with co2 into the keg. Should be even better than the first batch! Cheers
