I figured if I was ever to brew a lager, now's the time. I don't have the most reliable temp control but my garage fairly consistantly stays in the low 50's this time of year. Anyway, I took what I could from a few different recipes and formulated one of my own. Since this is my first lager, I'm open to suggestions. Here's my recipe:
2 lbs. extra-light DME (60 min)
3 lbs. extra-light DME (10 min)
1.5 lbs. clover honey
8 oz. crystal 20L
4 oz. carapils
1 oz. Perle (60 min)
1 oz. Saphir (20 min)
1 oz. Saphir (flameout)
White Labs WLP800
I'll be making a yeast starter and using whirlfloc and nutrient as usual. Any recipe suggestions or helpful tips about brewing a lager are appreciated.
