First Flanders Red

I have nothing to gauge this against, but it was a Strubb's Grand Cru. I have enjoyed most other sour beers I've tried, so I'm just trying to figure out if I may have got a bad one here, or if this is how it's supposed to be.

I get a very hot solvent like finish. It reminds me very much of Testors model glue. I find it hard to fathom that anyone (besides a huffer) would find this enjoyable.

Probably. It should taste more like bubbly red acidy wine. I'm drinking one right now (homebrewed).

You're in CA, find a Russian River Consecration.

Don't know how I screwed this up, but the Strubbs I had is actually called a Flemish Red, not Flanders.
Minor detail. Still hated it.

Same thing, two terms for the same style. And I second the suggestion for Consecration.

The only reference I could find to "Flemish" in the 2008 BJCP Style Guidelines app was for Belgian Pale Ale...and it just said that style may have originated from the Flemish region.

There is so much to learn!
