Well, everyone said it would happen and on batch 4 (sweet stout) it did... My first blowoff. It wasn't a huge disaster, but a mess nonetheless. The reason for this post is, I ran a blowoff tube from the carboy into a bowl of sanitizer, but should I be concerned about contamination due to the time that the airlock was pushed out? Or would there be enough CO2 pushing out to keep air from getting in?

You should be fine as long as the airlock wasn't off for days on end, the CO2 pushes out your concern pretty well

Yep. If you checked, you might have felt a breeze coming out - that's the CO2 pressure that is your friend.

That's what I w figured. The airlock was only compromised for a few hours. Hopefully everything will be ok. Thanks guys.
