First batch question

Am brewing a stout for my first batch. I just put it in the secondary and took a hydrometer reading. The OG was at 1.010. Is this an acceptable number? What reading should Be expected 4 days past brew day?

That seems like a good FG, not OG, but that's what it woudl be if you're going into secondary now.

Density of wort (dissolved sugars) is measured by Specific gravity (SG). The reading of SG just before you pitch your yeast is called the Original gravity (OG). The reading of SG when your beer is completely finished fermenting is called the Final Gravity (FG).

The FG and OG are both SG, but not vice versa.

So, as long as your FG (or SG) is 1.010, and your OG was higher, you are good. Get it?

That would be a factor of the OG and the yeast. 4 days to secondary is rather fast. But in general 1.010 should be fine.
