I just opened the first bottle of my first all grain batch today. it was the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale clone recipe from BYO’s clone recipe special issue. I did it as a “brew on premise” session with my local shop. I’d done one previous extract session years ago with them and had a horrible experience - and horrible beer. This one, though. Amazing. Not identical to SNPA, but very drinkable. Nearly perfect carbonation, nice hoppy aroma and flavor, and smooth drinking. Fairly cloudy, though. it was bottle conditioned, so hoping some of the haze settles out with time, but then again, I don’t see these 50ish bottles lasting too long!

Super stoked to finish acquiring my own gear and get another batch going. Thinking something in the brown ale or stout categories. Loving this new hobby.
