weekend plans fell thru, so i stoped by the LHBS on the way home from work yesterday to get some base malt to go with the various specialty grains i had left from a few extract batches.

Crushed the malt, (just under 12 lbs), mashed in, batch sparged, boiled down my volume from 7.5 gal to right around 6, and just about 10 min ago i added my 1st hop addition.

Only hickup was that it's been right around 32* all day here, and i didn't pre-heat my mash tun well enough so my mash temp droped from a strike temp of 158 to about 142 after 60 min. I added some hot water to get it back to 152 and let it mash for a nother 30 min.

We'll see how my efficiency turns out here pretty soon. Should end up with a OG of 1.059 if i get 70%.
