I have only brewed a few times so far but I want to try to brew some things that are not readily available in Oklahoma , one of these is krystalweizen , my latest hefeweizen tastes pretty good by my standards and wanted to try and filter 5 gallons out of my 10 gallon batch I have going for fun. Should I try and cold crash half the batch for a week or so before filtering to get some of the yeast out first ? I was thinking of getting 2 canister filters , one 5 micron and one 1 micron and mount them up inline on a board I can mount to my brewing shelves .
Any suggestions ? Maybe use gelatin with a cold crash to get larger partials out first to prevent clogging the filter ?

If you cold crash it and stuff, this will make it more difficult and time consuming for bottle conditioning, which is just something to keep in mind if you do any bottling.
