I am currently on tiny roommate leave, but there will be plenty. I swung by the release party for a minute last night and it's not actually hitting The Trap until today. You should be completely fine, I've never seen any release sell out in the first couple weeks in the past 1.5yrs. Also, we are released two more Dino variants the day of the 6yr anniversary as well...

Checked out Riverlands Brewing in St. Charles over the weekend. Newish spot that has been open for about a month or so. I was very impressed by the beers I had. Probably the best new brewery I've been to in the Chicagoland area this past year. Both the pilsner and kellerbier were crisp and refreshing. They had 4 different haze bros that all had a great soft mouthfeel. Only one had lactose added which made it too sweet in comparison to the others. A 5.5% milk stout had a nice roast character without being too bitter. A coconut version that actually showed restraint in the addition. A peach berliner that also was balanced between beer and fruit.

Pretty bummed this place wasn't around when I lived 10 minutes away. I'll probably only get back out this way once a year or so when visiting family. It is a much needed addition to the St. Charles, South Elgin, Geneva, and further west area.

....huh?

Everything I've read says rain with a chance of snow late Saturday.

Wunderground is saying ... well actually if you look at the quick forecast it says 2” but if you read the summary it says 1” so... somewhere around there but it’s for the loop so I assume lake effect flakes downtown.

"Chance" of snow out here so either no precipitation at all or 4"+.

The city typically gets less snow than the western suburbs when it does snow

South suburbs into the Region gets more than the city too because of true lake effect. The last two years seem to have been especially brutal to the west/north burbs with storms missing us down here completely. Not sorry.

Thinking of the debauchery at Dark Lord Day reminded me of the days in the infield at the Preakness when I used to live in DC. I happened to see this epic porta potty run live in 2005 and was delighted to see it as the #1 GIF that came up in my google search. There's a bunch of great ones on youtube.

This feels like the next logical step in America's bastardization of the "Ninja Warrior" genre of TV shows... I'd watch the hell out of it.

EDIT: just went down a youtube rabbit-hole. I had no idea this was a thing. The world is a fascinating place that I still have so much to learn about.

But who wins? The guy that makes it all the way to the end of the portojohns? Or the marksman that cracks your skull with a full beverage container before you make it?

Anybody who made it out of the infield without taking a full or partial Natty Light to the head was declared the winner.

I too went down the rabbit hole of the Preakness portojohn racing. That one guy that tried to jump the aisle, and didn’t, that wasn’t good for him.

Convinced my 6’4, 230 lb buddy to do this at Derby when we were in college circa 2006-ish. He has surprisingly short arms for such a large guy so he looked like a T-Rex running in a Tank top across Porto potties. The cops were waiting at the end and threw him in the Derby Drunk Pen in the infield. We still talk about it and laugh to this day.

Did anyone go to Imperial Oak yesterday and try the barleywines (BA Lord Humongous)? Looked like a double barrel one too.
I am going later today for 90's Music Tringo (combo trivia and Bingo?). I'll probably nab a half pour of whichever variant sounds most up my alley since I am driving myself to/from.

Update: scotch Lord is really great. Wish I wasn’t driving so I could drink three hours worth of just this.

Huh. The Islay peated description they had made me think I wouldn’t enjoy it much. Do they have that in cans too? Ugh so far though from north side of city.
