brewpub pricing - in order to please neighboring bars who carry your product, most tend to sell at the same price or slightly higher in order to please and not offer a discount. there's a decent GBH podcast with brewery owners and bar owners discussing this issue. think about drinking at new glarus, always one buck more than in pleasentville down the hill.

KBS - it was before the platoing or the FG'ing. back when beers finished, thats what they tasted like and tasted great, still one of the better coffee finishes in a stout. BUTTTTT yup, it tastes 'thin' by todays standards and has a chalky dryness i dont quite remember. its a 300 calorie stout in a land of stout and soda where they land with 200 extra calories to trick your primate brain that it tastes better because it lights up yr candy taste buds. NEIPA's and milkshakes are popular the same way ice cream and haribo are popular, us monkeys like sugar.

vav - glad you dug. bryan said you dropped off EC and i thought he was talking about a bottle in the back, not a barrel. We're space constrained so thats why its there. We got the beer for it, we're gonna transfer somethin fun to it and try to jam it in corner of brewhouse or maybe we get a nearby warehouse we've been eyeing in time.

I have some extra space in my storage locker at the condo and plenty of room in the bike area. Bonus, it's only 1.5 blocks away...

Not that it is as megahyped as the current haze-monsters, but Bell's Official is pretty dang tasty and only $8.99/16oz 4-pack

SOMEONE STOP THEM BEFORE THEY DRIVE THE MARKET DOWN!
The pint of it I had at the source on Saturday was $5. They are driving themselves out of business.

Stopped into Corridor to meet a friend before a show at Schuba's the other night and the only haze they had on was $10 for a 13oz pour, which I found to be quite steep for a 6.5% IPA....and quite the increase from the last time I was in there a couple months ago.
On the other hand, they had a $15 burger, pint, and shot special yesterday when I stopped in before a show at the Music Box. That was nice. Their burger is really good for the smash style too. Lots of fries with it.

For 15 bucks you could have dinner and get black out drunk in sycamore.

any you bois and gals doin third coast soif (for you folks over craft beer and into natty wines)? make sure to make a day of it and stop by the bungalow afterwards for some more natty wines and a special hybrid natty wine/beer.

I'll be by post-Trap shift, so 7:30pm-ish. All the natty grape juices...

just an FYI if your Binnys still has some left Hopslam 6packs on sale for $13.99. (oakbrook still does) Meanwhile ..... $20 Tall Haz Bois flying off shelves

I just want you to know that yesterday I was told by a coworker that I may like their new neighborhood pub with bread and tinned fish and beers inexplicably named after Robyn songs.

Wife and I are driving through Wed with our kids (3 and 5) on our way to Louisville. Looking for a place for lunch that works for the family. Was thinking about that one place with tinned fish, but was wondering if it was too far out of the way. Also considering Burger Antics, but wasn't sure if that was kid friendly enough.

Any tips?

Should be straightforward enough to get off the highway and then back on after you eat. One consideration is if the kids will enjoy the tinned fish. Revolution is also an option and is likely more kid-friendly - they will also sell you some beer to go (six packs and crowlers), though parking could be more of a challenge.

EDIT: Stop at Bang Bang Pie either way - thank us later.

Birger Antics is pretty popular with families that hit it up before and after the zoo so I wouldn't write them off and they aren't too far off 294. They don't specifically have a "kids" menu, but they have sliders and mac and cheese (I have heard they will do just hot buttered noodles if your kids are picky).

rare barrel & funkworks both coming to chicago this week -
FFF in cans -
and this bananas story - https://www.pastemagazine.com/artic...ois-craft-brewery-lasted-only-84-days-be.html
Rare Barrel - meh. Don’t think the Chicago market will be clamoring for $30+ sours.

funkworks - im probably in the minority but their Saisons are tasty. It’s been like 6 years since I’ve traded for any, depending on the price point that could be a nice addition.

Super pumped for cans of Alpha King and Gumballhead. Hope they do 6 and 12 packs.

Bananas story - lulz. This guy sounds like he has the business acumen of the Cardamon guy.

Already forgot the article but re FFF, it sounds like 12oz. 6-packs of Gumballhead and 16oz. 4-packs of Alpha King. These are getting canned out of an old Whole Foods distribution warehouse nearby (with no tours, no taproom, no retail sales).

Canned in an old Whole Foods to sit in large piles around current Whole Foods...

My local Jewel has cases and cases of KBS, BCS, Hopslam... plenty of old sixers of FFF, too. It's like we're back in 2010!

I'll pick up some Alpha King 4-packs if they're fresh enough. Still one of my favorites, though I find it hard to justify the price when we're spoiled for other options.
