1. To restore a used keg what do I need to do? I have a couple sets of "o-rings" coming. Do I need to replace the poppets also? These I have not ordered.

2. Does a soak in oxyclean work for orings that smell like beer? does it destroy them?

3. Basically I am asking what steps I need to take to make sure that I get no off flavors from the keg.

4. I have a tank of helium. Can I make light beer by carbing with it?

1. I always get a new set of gaskets when i get a used keg. I never get new poppets though. I boil the poppets to make sure they are clean.

2. Oxyclean works for a good quick wash of newer rings but older ones that smell of soda will continue to smell like soda.

3. Buy new rubber. Clean the keg.

4. Helium is a gas that is not very stable in the atomsphere so it would come out of solution quickly...so slam the beer and sound like MICKEY MOUSE!

Thanks. For the poppet idea. Sounds perfect.

The rings on the kegs look new but one smells like soda and one smells like beer.

Update. The one that smelled like beer I left sitting on the counter overnight. Today it smells like nothing at all. hmmm?

Will my voice go up or the pitch of my farts and burps?
