I have a plastic 15 gallon conical fermenter, the top is screwed on with stainless screws, which is causing air to leak out. Its not to much but enough to bug me as some of you may have noticed.

What is the best way to seal that up? Should I just use silicone, or would that be bad for my beer?

As long as it's "food grade" it will be fine...

But I have to ask, why must it be air tight? Unless you are using co2 to transfer then there is no need.
