fermentation time range(warning noob at work)

i brewed a kit and it's suggested fermentation time is two weeks, well i'm away right now and will have to let it sit for four weeks in primary, will that be acceptable? i have read on here of people fermenting for longer then that but usually in a secondary tank.

I always leave mine in the primary for 4 weeks and sometimes longer. Lots of the cool kids do it.

The worst part will be thinking about your beer while you are away. Make sure you give it a big hug and tell it how much you love it when you get back!
