I just started a new batch of mead and I am not sure if I should add more water to it to bring it down a touch for the yeast to work well.

1.5 gal batch:
1 gal water
4 lbs wildflower honey
nutrients & energizer
Red Star Montrechet yeast

OG came out to 1.134

Will that be too strong for the type of yeast I am using? I have seen reviews that it can handle alcohol at 17 % but also ones that said 13%. Also saw one that said to watch out for too high of sugar or it may stall.

I had planned on adding 1.5lbs of black cherries later as well.

Anyone have experience with this yeast? Should I water it down a little?

Thanks

My guess is that it will end up a tad sweet, but since you've got it going, just sit on it.
I have done some VERY sweet batches that have been very well received.
Montrechet usually stalls out on me around 14%.... and I know people will argue that point, but i've seen it 20 or 30 times in the last 4 or 5 years.
With your nut and energizer, I'm guessing you'll be fine and dandy!

Looks like you'll be good, give it a stir/shake to aerate it for first third of ferment (or at least first 2-3 days) and the yeast should get a good solid start.
